Detroit Electric resurrected as $25,000 electric car(March 30) - Detroit Electric will offer a compact four-door, based on an existing Proton model, with a range of 110 miles, for between $24,000 and $26,000. An extended-range option will go 320 kilometers, or about 200 miles, and cost $4,000 to $5,000 more. The company also plans to make a hatchback.  Complete Story 
 
Zenn Motor Still Waiting on EEStor(March 29) - Zenn Motor’s first highway-speed electric car, the cityZenn, is still on the way, but it may take a bit longer to get to market than originally planned, thanks to the slow moves of its energy storage partner EEStor. Zenn said this week that it’s waiting for the ultracapacitor technology from EEStor and doesn’t expect an initial introduction of the car until late 2009. Complete Story
  
2010 Toyota Prius Hybrid Superstar Shines Brighter(March 28) - But get this: in my road testing of the new Prius, I managed 69 m.p.g. That happened on a 34-mile route of mostly stop-and-go driving, at an average speed of 27 m.p.h. A journalist who drove the same route averaged even better — 74 m.p.g. — although he admitted to driving so far below the speed limit on public roads that he considered himself lucky to have survived. New Honda Insight Hybrid Much Cheaper than Prius(March 26) - Honda has finally announced pricing for its 41 mpg Insight LX hybrid, the company's five-passenger, five-door powered by a 1.3-liter i-VTEC gasoline engine and a 10-kilowatt electric motor. TESLA UNVEILING SEDAN THIS WEEK
(March 25) - Electric car maker Tesla Motors will be showing off its latest model later this week. It's the Model S, which is a more practically priced electric sedan. According to the Associated Press, Tesla expects the Model S to cost less than $50,000 after a $7,500 federal tax credit for electric vehicles.  Complete Story

Tata Electric Car Sales Will Be Limited to Norway
(March 23) - Tata Motors on Monday said that it plans to launch indigenously-developed electric Indica in Norway later this year. The electric Indica would be launched in the later-half of this year in Norway, Tata Group Chairman Ratan Tata told editors after announcing the booking date for their small car, Nano. Ford Hybrid Offers Ford Plug-In Electric Solutions(March 21) - Ford Motor Company has announced an aggressive plan to bring Hybrid electric cars more quickly to the market during the next four years. Electric car from Nissan will be sold here in '10(March 21) - Nissan is partnering with San Diego Gas & Electric to sell its new all-electric car here next year. The automaker will show off a prototype of the car to people who manage fleets for large companies, universities and municipalities at the Broadway Pier in downtown San Diego today, though the company insists the way it drives is more important than the way it looks.  Complete Story

Toyota to Take on Honda Insight With New Hybrid, Nikkei Reports(March 18) - Toyota Motor Corp. plans to develop a new hybrid car costing less than 2 million yen ($20,436) to compete with Honda Motor Co.’s Insight, Nikkei English News reported, without saying how it obtained the information. The new model will be as much as 30 percent cheaper than Toyota’s Prius hybrid car, which starts at 2.33 million yen, Nikkei reported.

Nissan Plans to Launch Mass Market Electric Cars in Europe Next Year(March 2) - It's most likely Nissan and Renault will lease at least the batteries to consumers, if not the entire car and battery system. Andy Palmer, head of Renault-Nissan's global electric vehicle business unit, thinks leasing the batteries will make the cost of electric vehicles essentially the same as conventional gas or diesel cars. Toyota Prius Touring best value vehicle, Consumer Reports says(February 27) - Consumer Reports magazine has rated the Toyota Prius Touring edition as the best value among more than 300 vehicles it tested, the non-profit organization reported Friday. Instead, racers will speed around the track using small electric cars. Chery Auto unveils first self-made electric car(February 19) -  China's Chery Automobile said on Thursday it has rolled out its first self-developed electric car, becoming the second home-grown car maker to tap potential demand for clean energy cars. Hybrid repair expenses roughly equal to non-hybrids

Nissan suspends electric vehicles plans as financial losses are announced(February 8) - Nissan, famous for manufacture of green cars such as the Note and Micra; has announced a series of recovery actions. Ford's electric car project charges ahead(February 2) - For months, Ford Motor Co. and Magna International Inc. had been talking about an electric vehicle. In September, executives at the Canadian supplier told Ford they had a surprise.
